About me

Tatsiana Hummel-Karpovich

I was born on April 11, 1975 in Mozyr, which is situated in Belarussian Polesye. At the age of 11 I entered a local art school and graduated it after 6 years of studies, having gained basic knowledge in fine arts and some artistic experience.

The next step to becoming a professional was a Bachelor's degree of Vitebsk State University (speciality "Pedagogics and Primary Education Methodology" with additional speciality "Fine Arts"). Vitebsk is a marvellous city in northern Belarus, full of joy of life and freedom of thought. It has a unique past and no less exciting present-day cultural life. It's a birthplace of Mark Shagal. He had spent his childhood and youth here, and even later, already being a mature artist, he had visited his hometown from time to time.

Such a world famous artist as Kazimir Malevich also came to see Vitebsk, where he had worked as head of a well-known studio at the local Public Art School. He also managed the outdoor design works of the city for some time. The atmosphere of this city has had a deep influence on my artistic view and marked the beginning of my own style shaping, which developed and prospered in the course of time.

Now I use various techniques like impressive oil-painting, atmospheric watercolours, deep acrylic palette, contrasting ink drawings as well as various combinations of techniques. The plots of my paintings are very diverse, from landscapes to humans in mystical forms and from biblical themes to simple subjects of everyday life, as well as bright still-lifes and, of course, flowers.

Since 2001 I live in Germany and take an active part in various exhibitions, give private lessons on fine arts and hold classes on numerous subjects related to art for children. At the present time I work as an Art teacher at elementary school.
